Yoga - An Easy Way To Stay Healthy - Part 2

We have learned quite a bit about yoga and its goodness in the previous lessons and thus are quite familiar with its benefits and positive effects on our body, mind and soul. Regularly practicing yoga postures require complete knowledge of the activity and proper execution too that shall thereafter reflect positive results. It is advised that fresh learners begin their yoga regime under the guidance of trainers so that they can learn the technique effectively.

Though yoga exercises look simple and flexible, they are powerful activities that have a deep impact on the body. It is a very rigid exercise regime that follows some definite set norms. Not following these set pattern of exercises may even cause adverse effect on the body. As a matter of fact, one can even hurt himself while doing an incorrect yoga asana.

Warm-up exercises thus are a very helpful part of the yoga exercises. They set the body for all sorts of asanas. Some of the most essential warm up exercises include exercising the eyes, neck, shoulders, and backbone.

Followed by this should be some Standing postures that are very beneficial. They act as brilliant stretching patterns and also increase strength and flexibility. Standing yoga asanas help become more aware of the body posture and revitalize the whole body. Some of the commonly practiced standing yoga postures are:

Triangle pose (Trikonasana): Triangle pose tone the leg muscles, spinal nerves and abdominal organs. It also helps to strengthen the lower back portion of the body. The Trikonasana gives an excellent and complete stretch throughout the entire body.

Revolved Triangle Pose (Parivrtta Trikonasana): This asana is a opposing twisted Trikonasana and is a good exercise to follow the former one. The exercise helps in building a sense of coordination and balance in oneself. A lot of concentration and precision is required to perform this posture correctly.

The Virasana Arm/Shoulder Stretch: This pose helps to give the entire body a complete stretch from head to toe. It improves strength and endurance and helps to control your breathing in conjunction with the movements of the body. The postures also help to ease and stimulate the joints especially the knees, ankles and shoulders. It reduces and alleviates backache and improves the circulation of the entire body.

The Tree Posture: This pose develops the powers of mental concentration. It helps to gather control over the body’s balance and stability, and strengthens the legs and feet. The posture is also known to be beneficial in increasing the flexibility of the hips and knees.

The Lying Basic Twist: This asana helps to increase strength and muscle tone in the middle section of the body. Though the pose looks very simple and can be done with great ease, the lying twist posture is extremely effective. This pose relaxes the spine and neck muscles, and tones the lower back and hips and it also improves digestion and assists in toxin elimination.

Continuing the practice of yoga asana will help maintain a proper balance between the body and the soul. Yoga is also known to be an effective cure for many diseases apart from toning the body and keeping it fit.
