A recent trip to the area widened my perspective on how much this country has to offer. The city of Bend consists of well respected restaurants with world trained chefs, local breweries, unique shopping and exquisite art galleries. Bend surrounds the Deschutes River that flows through the city with grace and beauty. The Old Mill District of the city offers dining, shopping and enjoyment right along the riverbanks. Many parks grace the banks of the river with lush green grass, pine trees and urban trails to enjoy. The incredible amount of outdoor recreation is astounding. The Mt. Bachelor ski area located 30 minutes away offers year round activities. Hiking, biking, skiing and rock climbing are just a fraction of outdoor recreation found here.
The lifestyle in Central Oregon is relaxed, enjoyable and not pretentious. One of my favorite places to put my feet up and enjoy the roaring of the fireplace is Pronghorn. This elegant community includes estate sites, villas, grand clubhouse, spa and two championship golf courses. Surrounded with beautiful views of Three Sisters mountains and never-ending horizons, this community offers the relaxed atmosphere needed for most souls.
If exploring the beauty of Bends lakes sounds tantalizing, then try visiting Todd Lake. This lake offers beauty found nowhere else. The six mile trail surrounding the lake is accessible throughout the year. The summer and fall hiking trails include beautiful flowers, fragrant pine trees and glistening lake views. If snowshoeing is called for, Todd Lake has December to April trails available to explore. Pack a lunch and see why this untamed area is so appealing to many!
